Over the past few months I have had the privilege of listening to the Nightmare365 podcast hosted by Matt Douglas. The podcast features spooky and weird topics related to Halloween, haunted attractions, horror, and the paranormal – totally my cup of tea.
What’s great about Matt Douglas and his podcast, is that his love for history and research really shines through in his work. You can tell that he’s a natural historian in the way he tells a story, vistits historical haunts, and really wants to dig into the background of a haunted location to learn all about it’s rich history.

When did you first realize you wanted to launch a podcast?
I first realized I wanted to do a podcast about a year after launching my website. I knew I always wanted to do something pertaining to Halloween and wasn’t doing much with the website.
What inspires you in your shows?
There are a bunch of things that inspire me to do my show. I would say, it all stems from my childhood, with the shows, movies and stories I was fascinated by. Even today, I love everything Halloween and the paranormal, watching horror movies and also visiting haunted attractions both real and the built ones. I also find a lot of inspiration from other people in these industries and learn from everyone I can. I also love to find out what makes people tick and how they use their love for Halloween, Horror and the paranormal.
What is your favorite time to work on your podcast and what do you like about it?
Anytime I have free time, I try to work on my podcast and also come up with ways to improve what I am doing or find things that interest me to share.
Who are some of your role models inside and outside of the industry?
R.L Stine is one who always created books since my childhood that I enjoyed and always wanted to model my love for Horror around. This person is not horror, but I always enjoyed Joe Rogans show. Once I started listening to his podcast, it made me start thinking of doing my own. The last person I will mention is a person who is a big influence on me with Halloween, my favorite Author Lesley Bannatyne.
If you could be a character in a movie for a day, who would it be and why?
Well I will always be a kid at heart and I enjoy Hocus Pocus, so I would have to pick Max . I would love to be his character because it seemed like the greatest Halloween, being chased by witches in Salem. No other better way to celebrate the holiday. Might have to considered Omri Katz other character Marshell Teller in Eerie Indiana, but that is a discussion for another day.
What do you like to do when you’re not hosting your show?
I enjoy being outdoors and playing sports, really just being active. I also like traveling to different historical and spooky places and places I have never been to. Of course I enjoy reading and watching movies from horror to action and something I probably shouldn’t admit but sometimes chick flicks.
Do you have any suggestions for those wanting to become a podcasts or hosts?
Really just go for it and do not be afraid to ask or reach out to people you want on. There is plenty of people I have asked to be on my show and they have said no. Like R.L Stine!
What is your favorite piece of advice in life?
This is tough because I have received or have read so much good advice. I have to always remember my high school quote, Life is to serious to be taken seriously.
